Re: [lojban-beginners] Why is place structure implied by selbri and not encoded some other way?

There's a whole category of cmavo, BAI, to add place structures to words that lack certain ones, and is often used by others to explicitly label places. So you have to memorize a list of about one hundred additional words, over and above the selbri themselves.

In all honesty, recalling the place structures isn't all that difficult, once you start working in the language. I idea of place structures in a deeply embedded feature of the language, which simplifies utterances over using expilict BAI tags.

I don't know a whole lot about lojban, but it seems to me that it would be difficult to learn simply because each selbri has its own implied place structures.  Is there no way to encode place structure by using a particle or something without reducing grammatical ambiguity?  Why do it this way instead of something that doesn't require such intense memorization of place structures?  Am I missing something important here?
