A hair grows from its root. A man grows old. Of the five etyma, I know the English and Spanish words, couldn't make sense of the definition of the Chinese character, and don't find the Hindi or Arabic words in Wiktionary. "grow" generally means to become bigger or more in some quality as a result of a living process. "brotar" means to grow from nothing, or from a seed; something that already has some size and grows is said to "crecer". "brotar" can also be said of a spring of water; a synonym is "manar" which is related to "emanate". (I've also heard "dimanar" in a song.) "grow" can also be said of a crystal, which becomes bigger slowly, even though it may not be alive. I think that "banro" should be restricted to increases resulting from life, thus "braze'a" and "brabi'o" are not superfluous. lo krili cu braze'a gi'enai banro mu'omi'e .pier. -- li fi'u vu'u fi'u fi'u du li pa _______________________________________________ jbovlaste mailing list jbovlaste@lojban.org http://mail.lojban.org/mailman/listinfo/jbovlaste
