Actually, I was thinking of going with the etymology, though maybe not all of it. Something like {titpincyterbi'a} or maybe better without the -ter-. This is diabetes mellitus and not diabetes insipidus. ~mark --------------070206090103080909070101 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

we ought to have a word for it. I suggested "satflib" for "diabetes", but Bob
countered that it could also apply to other conditions, such as hypoglycemia.
But there are also different types of diabetes. Should we have different words
for each? What do you suggest?

Diabetes is the failure of the pancreas to produce insulin. It's not a sugar failure. Or were you referring to the failure of the body to absorb glucose?

I decided to look up the etymology, and I definitely think we shouldn't use the source (basically "pisses too much").

Actually, I was thinking of going with the etymology, though maybe not all of it.  Something like {titpincyterbi'a} or maybe better without the -ter-.  This is diabetes mellitus and not diabetes insipidus.
