I'm not sure what word to use for "allele". I used "tair= mupli" on IRC the
other day; that means "x1 is the x2 form of x3", such as "= =C2=ABsang=C2=BB is the past
tense form of =C2=ABsing=C2=BB". I think an allele could be a mupli, b= ut I'm not sure
what property it shows; sometimes an allele makes no difference to the prot= ein
produced. Also, one can talk of an allele of a SNP that isn't part of a= gene.
