Because "molmol" is easier to make a fu'ivla of. One might also ask why hemlocks of the genus Conium are called in Spanish "cicuta", which is the other genus of hemlock, or why Pelargonium is called "geranium" in English. Common names don't have to match scientific names, even if they are derived from or cognate with them. In the case of hemlock, "conium" would have turned into a word that sounds almost or exactly like a part of the female anatomy. Pierre
