It makes some sense, but I don't think it's the right word. Polarized light can oscillate at an angle to something, but it can also be circularly polarized. Given a direction of propagation, the polarization states can be mapped onto a sphere (and inside it, if it's partially polarized): orthogonally polarized is on the X axis, diagonally polarized is on the Y axis, and circularly polarized is on the Z axis. Between them are various oblique and elliptical polarizations. So what's a good word for "polarize" or "polarized light"?
