I believe that all have responded positively. We now need to elect officers. The current officers are me, lojbab as president, And (no longer on the Board) as Vice President (it technically is possible to have an officer who is not on the Board, but probably not a wise idea), and Riley Martinez-Lynch aka mukti as Secretary/Treasurer. I am also serving as the Virginia corporate agent, which is a state requirement and not a Bylaws officer. At this point, people should step forward and state whether they are willing to serve in any of the Officer roles, and whether they actually want the job. Asking questions about what is needed in each job is also in order. Perhaps in this governance "year" we can set forth a list of things that need doing/leading at the organization level, and allocate responsibilities to the various offices, but for the most part that has to come after we elect officers. The governance year will hopefully be much shorter than a calendar year, because we probably need to start the next annual meeting by around September with a hope of actually finishing the meeting by the end of the year. So please speak up. ------------------- As stated in my first post above, I am willing to serve another year as President, but I do not believe that I can effectively lead the community in the way that I once did, and am not sure how much I want the job. I am not active enough, and am not able and willing enough to make Lojban a higher priority in my life, which would be needed for me to properly lead. I remain plateaued at a Lojban skill level insufficient to allow me to even keep up with discussion in-language, much less actively participate in same. I'm getting old, and whether or not my health remains a concern, I have more trouble learning new things in arenas where I am not totally focused. I also am almost totally uninvolved in the modern Internet social networking community. email and land-line telephone are 99% of my communication. On the other hand, I still support the goals of the language and the organization, and have a good portion of the institutional memory of the Loglan/Lojban effort. With a Vice President who could and would do more of what I cannot, things might work better than they have. I still am capable of serving as the Virginia agent, so that my home address remains the official corporate address. The primary job is relaying communications received at that address to whoever is responsible for handling the issue. This includes state notices, like our annual corporate filing, and occasional queries and book orders received by snail mail. lojbab _______________________________________________ llg-board mailing list llg-board@lojban.org http://mail.lojban.org/mailman/listinfo/llg-board
