I just want to note that in future (not this year but maybe even next year)
there will be a possibility to automatically translate the whole Simple
English Wikipedia to Lojban.

This is a software project and we will need
1. fluent speakers who can provide a list of parallel English-Lojban
translations of short texts or sentences.
2. fluent speakers to check validity of the output of machine translation,
fixing the output and sending it back to developers so that the system will
learn from that in next iterations.

Finally,
3. it's possible that we will need to hire a developer to make a tool to
periodically take Simple English wikipedia and translate it into Lojban at
once.

The sole reason for my message here is this third requirement.
I can't tell any more details, it's just a note that money might be needed
in future.

I suppose there are two types of Lojbanists:
1. those who think Lojban is a language that should be spoken by clubs
around the world
2. those who think Lojban is for representing human knowledge in a logical
form.

But the case of machine-translating Wikipedia is IMO important to both
types of people interested in Lojban.

Earlier there were suggestions to raise money for Lojban projects. And this
wikipedia project might be a good candidate for being in the list of such
projects.

For people of type 1. the completion of this project will be a tool of
making Lojban popular.

For people of type 2. human experience will be encoded in logical form and
become usable for data extraction and similar things.

So this message is just a preliminary notification that money might be
needed in future. When time comes I or others will report more.
