Lulu, more delving into the mechanics of print-on-demand > facilities, what else? I believe a couple of years ago, I requested that people research other POD and distribution options, especially for international Lojbanists. There was some discussion, but it was largely left to Robin. He did what he was willing to do as part of the process of his stepping down from active leadership. The price on amazon seems high to me, but is actually not by the standards of textbook level publication in the US. Most textbooks are much higher. For example, the Russian textbook used in my son's college level beginning Russian class a few years ago is going for $116 on amazon these days for the textbook alone, and almost $200 for the set of materials required for a class (see "frequently bought together" on the link page below). https://www.amazon.com/Puti-Russian-Grammar-Context-2nd/dp/0130282804/ref=sr_1_14?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1494612195&sr=1-14&keywords=russian+textbook I daresay that a Russian language textbook in Russia is a lot cheaper %^) > I vote for Karen being the President. > And I would like more people eligible for running LLG and LLG board > meetings in case the President is temporarily unavailable (e.g. > vacation). Probably, this would require some bylaws to be changed? The VP is the one nominally given that job, and has little else as official duties. If they can't or won't, maybe people should choose a VP who will do so. But we haven't exactly had a plethora of volunteers for any of the offices, and you in particular were one I unsuccessfully tried to recruit a long time ago. The Board, which is in constant session after this initial kick-off, and which elects officers, can ad hoc replace a vacancy in one or all offices. That is more-or-less what happened when Matt suddenly resigned as president a few years ago. lojbab _______________________________________________ llg-board mailing list llg-board@lojban.org http://mail.lojban.org/mailman/listinfo/llg-board
