I'm bringing this up on the LLG lists because it involves funds. A member of my local Lojban User Group (who goes by nklb on the Lojban chat channel) introduced us to geocaching at our last meeting. For those who don't know, geocaching is the practice of hiding small storage containers -- whether in the city or wilderness -- and posting their latitude and longitude to the web for other geocachers to find with GPS-enabled devices. Sometimes this will involve a puzzle or clues. Most caches contain trinkets to be traded, contributed or collected. Specially-minted coins and dogtags are placed in some of these caches. The tags and coins differ from the other items in that they are tracked in their movements by reporting their unique ID numbers on the web. nlkb is willing to pay $200 if the LLG would pay the other $635 (total $835), to mint 250 custom metal coins (250 coins is the minimum order) with the Lojban color logo and web address. A different unique tracking number would be engraved on the back of each. These coins would travel the world from cache to cache exposing people to Lojban. Lojbanists around the world could create and hide local caches containing the coins, with clues written in Lojban so that geocachers would visit our chat channel or look through our materials to solve the clues and find the caches. -Eppcott
