It's possible that it was the tone of my criticism of his not reading the bylaws (which was based in part because this comment has come up before). In which case, I will chime in with Robin. I would like to see what Matt can do in the bully pulpit of "President", and in my mind, he has earned whatever responsibility he is willing to take on with his leadership on the last couple of LogFests. But, I need to remind Matt that LLG exists as a "formal" organization precisely to handle the formal stuff so that the rest of the community doesn't need to worry about the formal stuff. We are the business arm of Lojban. We are answerable to the IRS, since we claim tax exempt status, and those of us on the Board have a legal responsibility. The President is the primary officer responsible for such stuff, though Robin has done a fabulous job at reducing the responsibility level of the President by handling so much as Secretary/Treasurer/webmaster. (As everyone found out with me, doing both jobs is a formula for eventual burnout). Matt may find it worthwhile to pursue what has been proposed before - an informal second "community" group with more open-ended membership and ad-hoc procedures, with LLG being used for finances, and for those activities where legalities and formalism are important. Once it is set up, he might be happier running that group, which he could run as efficiently as he runs his con, and leave us "anchors" with the boring stuff. lojbab
