If you think of Lojban as a software application, obscure cmavo could be considered plugins. We don't know if they'll cause bugs. One way to get around this is to release a version of the software with a more manageable set of features. The application does 150% of what the user wants it to do, and in reality people would be happy if it just did 80%. The BPFK is clarifying a lot of useful selma'o. But there are also a lot of rare, obscure words that frankly almost no one is ever going to use. They're holding up the completion of the language because we don't know what their interactions are going to be with other words. One way the BPFK could progress is to admit they are never going to get around to working on them, and remove them from the language. Instant progress! Then we can get a dictionary and everything else. With that under our belts we can generate new Lojban users and proficient speakers. With all that energy, if someday they feel like updating Lojban with more words, they'll have the manpower and probably also the money. Our reach will no longer exceed our grasp as it does presently. I move to nominate any of these words, if they have not been finished by BPFK, for removal: na'u, me'o, lo'o, ju'u, si'i, ti'o, ri'o, sa'i, sa'o, ma'o, ra'e, jo'i, ni'e, cu'a, ne'o, fu'a, re'a, nu'a, fa'i, bi'e, mo'e, ma'u, fu'u, pe'o, ge'a, va'a, ku'e, fe'a, pa'i, de'o, pi'a, and ka'o; tu'o, ru'o, ge'o, lau, je'o, na'a, tei, jo'o, lo'a, foi, zai, tau, se'e, and ce'a; nu'i, nu'u, fu'e, ce'e, and fe'u; ke'i, jo'e, pi'u, ga'o, and mi'i. Lojban is complete for me without those 46 words, and I suspect it is complete for a lot of other people too. -Matt
