Those version will contain the text that is currently available as DRAFT, brought up to date with the printed version by many active users of the Lojban community. I just provided the final formatting. The files will also have a prominent notice stating that they are a "community edited" versions and that people are encouraged to buy the printed book from LLG or make a donation. I'm firmly convinced that this will help people improving their Lojban and increase the number of donations to the LLG. The policy of making the book text availble, is more consistent with the current model of "Open Source", where producer make the content available and ask users to recognize the value that that content has for them (I could cite Magnatune.com or Jamendo.com as examples in the music industry). Looking forward for your reply. I strongly support this, provided that the LLG copyright is recognized. -- "But I am the real Strider, fortunately," John Cowan he said, looking down at them with his face cowan@ccil.org softened by a sudden smile. I think we should do this ASAP. The book is available here: http://dag.github.com/cll/ The inclusion of the licence in chapter 1.8 clearly satisfies the “and provided that the entire resulting derived work is distributed under the terms of a permission notice identical to this one.” In my opinion, the contents of http://github.com/dag/cll satisfies the “provided that the modifications are clearly marked as such” clause. If Remo, Dag et al. are indeed following the licence, then they already have permission to distribute, and we only have to let them know that this is the case. (And offer suitable apologies for mulling over it for this long!) As regards Bob's suggestion that we run the changes past the BPFK, I am firmly against it. The errata page on the Wiki is for typos and similar; to check that the errata are indeed just that and not actual changes to the language could easily be done by someone other than the BPFK, if it is at all necessary. We should figure out a way to lessen the burden of the BPFK, not increase it. -- Arnt Richard Johansen http://arj.nvg.org/ Tusener på tusener av nydelige løpenoter - og hvilenoter! ----- End forwarded message ----- ----- Forwarded message from Robin Lee Powell ----- Date: Mon, 4 Jan 2010 09:30:01 -0800 From: Robin Lee Powell To: llg-board@lojban.org Subject: [llg-board] Re: Creation of CLL PDF and HTML version On Mon, Jan 04, 2010 at 06:08:55PM +0100, Arnt Richard Johansen wrote: > On Fri, Oct 16, 2009 at 01:37:02PM +0200, Remo Dentato wrote: > > The present email is for asking permission of uploading on > > lojban.org (and hence make availble to all) a PDF and HTML > > version of "The Complete Lojban Language". > > I think we should do this ASAP.
