When I was hosting, we typically spent around $500-600 (mostly on food), and asked for donations to help cover expenses, usually getting back half. Given that our income stream is healthier, I have no problem with $1000. I will presume a motion to that effect. It might not hurt to ask people who come to donate, and then in future years we can add part or all of the donation total to the budget (so if we take in $200 this year, we can spend $1200 next year). If you do this, make sure you keep track of who gives how much for bookkeeping and any required IRS receipts. Nora generally just made a list of names and amounts and did the bookkeeping later. lojbab
