2015-04-01 11:38 GMT+03:00 Bob LeChevalier, President and Founder - LLG= <lojbab@lojban.org>:
On 3/31/2015 2:01 PM, Gleki Arxokuna wr= ote:
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 Dealt with in a separate message.

=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 2) Last Sunday, gleki, Ilmen and I, with appare= ntly selpa'i
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 listening
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 only, had a patched Skype conversation with a B= rian Wernham of a
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 company
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 called NooLearn in the UK, and his assistant.= =C2=A0 They are
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 interested in
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 alpha-testing of their software system with a g= roup of
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 Lojbanists, which
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 will hopefully create some sort of on-line Lojb= an courseware (MOOC
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 platform (MOOC =3D Massive Open Online Course))= , which would be made
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 available to us (and others) under a Creative C= ommons license.=C2=A0 The
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 alpha-test would probably involve getting some = number of Lojbanists
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 together in one place for a half-day closed-roo= m effort at
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 testing/using
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 the system, and I think there will be additiona= l online testing that
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 people can help asynchronously.

=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 One suggestion was to have this take place as p= art of LogFest,
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 which I
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 understand Pierre is putting together for July = either in New York or
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 possibly at my place here in Washington DC (or = perhaps at a nearby
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 hotel, which might be necessary in order to sup= port their test).=C2=A0 I
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 believe that the organization would be paying f= or any special
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 needs, and
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 might be willing to assist a few people in gett= ing to the test
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 location.
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0Another possibility would be to ge= t European Lojbanists
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 together in
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 some single locale for the testing.

=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 So in New Business, we will discuss whether the= membership
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 wishes LLG to
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 support this effort, and whether LogFest is the= best time for
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 getting
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 together (or whether this might too-seriously d= isrupt the
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 ability for
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 other activities).=C2=A0 =C2=A0I believe I have= a little more information,
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 but we
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 may have to ask the nooLearn group some questio= ns.

=C2=A0 =C2=A0 Gleki posted on this and seems to think that we do not know e= nough
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 to discuss it, so this may have to be passed to the Board for=
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 resolution.

I'm surprised to hear that any such activity has to be supported by
resolutions. People have been making decks of flashcards in Anki,
Memrise and what preceded them for a long time.

From what I understand, they are asking us to set up some sort of gathering= wherein they can alpha-test their system with multiple users.=C2=A0 If the= meeting is in the US, they presumably have to fly someone over here to run= the test, and possibly aiding travel costs for Lojbanists who attended, an= d thus are talking about spending fair amount of money.=C2=A0 I could not j= ustifiably offer any support, unless I had the sense that the community was= willing and interested in actually supporting this test.

I could be wrong about this, if that is not what you understood.

Oh, I see. We understood the same,I'm just ou= t of any non-internet gatherings. I was talking only about their web tool f= or learning languages.

A master class in Lojban is= a completely different story.
