There is an Official and a Provisional Lojban, or if you don't like that metaphor, a released branch and a trunk. Nothing requires anyone to teach the official version or even mention it; you are merely not to deprecate ("pray against", etymologically) it by saying that what it describes is not Lojban. Feel free to use xorlo, the more the better, and to propagate xorlo.
