The members generally give guidance as to policy, and leave it to the Board to work out the nitty gritty details. In this case, the policy decisions seem to be a) do we start selling stuff that is more promotional than language/educational materials (we've sold buttons before, but they were prepared incidental to LogFests by a Lojban supporter who couldn't afford to pay for materials, so she paid in handmade buttons, which is her primary business) b) do we set up a catalog page for such stuff, and should it include stuff that individuals apart from LLG are selling, which are Lojban-related When I was running things, my general policy was that if an issue came up close to annual meeting time, it was brought up to the membership to give them a voice in managing the organization. The point of having a Board is that the members aren't paying attention year-round to organzational matters, so stuff that requires research and planning over a period of time isn't suited to the meeting, but guidance as to the sorts of things that the membership wants to see are much welcomed. lojbab
