I'm just starting to learn Lojban, using the Crash Course. I came across 
this:

*pa mlatu cu pinxe i le mlatu cu taske*
*There is a cat that is drinking. The cat is thirsty.*

The course has introduced *.i* as a sentence separator, but not a lone *i* without 
the leading dot. When I tried this on the lojban parser 
at https://lojban.github.io/ilmentufa/glosser/glosser.htm, it appeared to 
be accepted as valid Lojban, so I guess it's not a mistake.

What are the rules here? Is the dot not always required in front of the i 
sentence separator?
