  It is not.  The . is an indicator of a glottal stop or pause.  Said pause
is mandatory in speech (before a word starting with a vowel, after a "la",
"lai" or "doi", and after any word ending with a consonant), and the dot is
there to remind you of it.  It also provides a nice visual break in long
blocks of text, but if you are putting spaces in between words, you don't
need it.  For example, the utterance you wrote can also be written
pamlatu cupinxe.ilemlatu cutaske and the parser would still understand it.
