What's your generation? I was born in 1964, and I had no idea > what it was about (still don't, beyond what I've gathered from the > discussion - basically, that it's related to a TV show). I was born in 1961, which puts me at the tail end of the boomers. Or, depending on which set of demographics you choose, around the middle of Generation X according to Douglas Coupland, who coined the term (but not a member of "Gen-X", a derivative term which for some reason refers to people born even later on). It is a reference to the two younger-women cast members of Gilligans Island. Ginger was the movie-star, whereas MaryAnn was the country girl. Basically a reference to flashy versus wholesome. mu'o mi'e la skat.
