I can't think of more than one "entirely different and unrelated" computer meanings of "service": basically, "something with a defined interface which you can call on to make something happen". Everything I would call a "service" is some form of that: code you call when programming, a network protocol, whatever. And, conversely, anything fitting that definition could be called a `service', though certainly many of them have more precise names.
