I think the rule is: they need a full stop if they begin with a vowel or follow anything but {la} {lai} {doi}. ({la'i} also belongs to selma'o LA but is not one of the "magic syllables" that can't occur in a word, so {la'i .mat.} "The set of those named " needs the pause at the start of {.mat.}.) The need for a pause is not restricted to when cmevla follow COI. Though as "any two words may have a pause between them" (CLL draft ch4 s9.1), {doi .djim.} is not incorrect. BTW {doi} is not necessary in {ki'esai doi .djim.} -- you could also write merely {ki'esai .djim.}. mu'o mi'e .filip.
