The support for this may vary between > browsers from what little research I did. Hi Jeff, For various reasons, I use "XHTML 1.0 Strict" which is a widely recognized and supported web standard. Practically all browsers (even Microsoft's Internet Explorer) can handle it. Because IE is very popular, I don't use certain XHTML features that IE can NOT handle (yet?) though. The idea is to keep the site compatible/usable with a larger number of browsers currently in use. So that most people can enjoy the site no matter the software they may use to display/listen to texts, images, videos etc. Unfortunately, the tag is not included in XHTML standard, I believe. And I really would like to avoid non XHTML features. Jeff, most of the time I use a Windows XP system on which IE and realPlayer have been installed. This is probably a relatively popular combination? When I click on a mp3 sound document, realPlayer opens in a (small) popup window and stays "minimized" in the background. So I'm not distracted much. Are other users "distracted by having their web browser go to a new page to play audio"? Martin
