Since they're > cmavo, the spaces are optional. So there's no sense calling them "2 > words", "3 words" and "1 word" -- it's any of those depending on how > you want to think about it, and 3 cmavo. What about the stress rule "For words consisting of two or more syllables: stress the last but one syllable." Doesn't it apply here as anywhere else? If so, the three phrases .OI nAI rO'a .OInai rO'a .oinairO'a would sound differently, wouldn't they? If so, we have three phrases with three different pronunciations and three different spellings meaning all three EXACTLY the same. This is VERY confusing at least for beginners! I expected Lojban to be simple and easy! Introducing too much "freedom" makes the language atcually more unnecessary difficult to learn. Don't you agree? I think beginners should learn to write and pronounce words seperately in such phrases. Martin
