I think the comma is absolutely essential > here! Don't you agree? It changes nothing. {oa} cannot form a diphthong in Lojban, so in fact it can only be pronounced as two separate syllables. But even in cases where a diphthong is possible in Lojban, say {marias}, both pronunciations {ma,ri,as} and {ma,rias} are valid pronunciations of the same word. You can use the comma to indicate which one you prefer, but unless it is your own name and you want to impose your preferred pronunciations on others, there really is no reason to use commas.
