If I want to reply to or take part in a discussion about a subject someone else has brought up I just reply to that message (without changing the subject line). Usually I quote a small part of the text I'm referring to at the top of my reply (>). It's a quick way of setting the context and it's easier to read/understand for others I think. If a subject changes significantly while discussing it's sometimes better to start a new subject. I usually try to keep it short and I sign my messages. Sometimes people refer to a subject as a "thread". So by sending a message with a new subject you "open a new thread". Martin
