Thats what I was thinking. Is it not the artists prerogative to sing nonsense if s/he chooses? If you were to hit up some popular artist about the grammar in thier song and say 'hey, this here where you misspelled this, contracted these and repeated this for no reason.... this doesnt make sense" you'd probably get "So? I wrote the song, I'll tell you what's correct and what isn't!" Issues concerning art aside, if one wished to stay correct, the rhythmic space one gets to move in is not *too*, er... 'claustrophobic', you can always throw in non-compulsory terminators or attitudinals. You can often conserve a syllable here and there contracting converted words, as in {se srera} (3) becomes {selsre} (2), or even gain one, as with {ve lasna} (3) becoming {velyla'a} (4, and also a very cool word). While its a start, its really not a lot to go on. On Fri, Apr 4, 2008 at 3:24 PM, Marjorie Scherf wrote: > And that's not even considering the song lyrics specifically designed not to > make sense. This makes me think of nonsense lyrics like the Talking Heads' "Fa, fa fa fa, fa fa fa fa, fa". Nothing to stop you making random sounds in lojban I guess. Makes just as little sense in any language.
