Message-ID: <20100319011840.GE25330@digitalkingdom.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.20 (2009-06-14) X-archive-position: 3039 X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 Sender: lojban-beginners-bounce@lojban.org Errors-to: lojban-beginners-bounce@lojban.org X-original-sender: rlpowell@digitalkingdom.org Precedence: bulk Reply-to: lojban-beginners@lojban.org X-list: lojban-beginners (for those of you on the main list: yes, this is basically a repeat, and yes, it does apply to the beginner's list) The short version: list is moving to google groups; this probably won't break anything for anyone, or ever require anyone to change their behaviour. I've uploaded all but March of this list's mails to http://groups.google.com/group/lojban-beginners/topics , which didn't actually take that much effort since I had already done all the hard work for the main list. :) The driving issue here is that for many years I was getting regular requests to make a web forum, but I didn't want to split the community, so I found software (Tiki) that could keep an email list and a web forum synchronized. The problem is, it keeps breaking, and I'm tired of fixing it. On top of that, managing non-trivial email these days is itself a full time job (because of disparate spam protection at different ISPs), and I'm tired of doing it. So, I'm outsourcing the mailing list to Google, which solves both this problems very well, so I don't have to keep spending my time working on obnoxious busy-work, when I could actually be doing stuff to further Lojban. Some time in the next few days, when I get a few hours to rub together, the current list will be totally shut down, the last bits of mail will be uploaded, and the current list of subscribers will be transferred. The current email address for the list will still work, it will just forward to google groups instead. -Robin -- They say: "The first AIs will be built by the military as weapons." And I'm thinking: "Does it even occur to you to try for something other than the default outcome?" See http://shrunklink.com/cdiz http://www.digitalkingdom.org/~rlpowell/ *** http://www.lojban.org/
