It seems to me that the whole dates issue is not settle at all and there is no standard lojbanic grammar for them yet. I searched the prefinal Lojban Reference Grammar (I don't have the book yet) and found nothing on dates. So what is being taught in Lojban for Beginners is not official? Anyway, I'm under the impression that LFB is still draft, so no harm done. I like Nick's proposal too. I think it's elegant, flexible and simple. There is someone called "xod" proposing some confusing things that look too wild to me. Things like 9; meaning month are ugly. Sorry, I just reflect my formation as computer programmer in my preferences (although I have not written a program in just too long time). Just my opinion.
