Not quite -- you put two {brivla} next to each other. The {bridi} is the entire statement, or relation between the arguments; a {brivla} is a word which can be a {selbri}, i.e. the term expressing the relationship, the turning-point, as it were. {le samymri} contains a {brivla} but it is not a {selbri}, while {cusku} is the {selbri} of the {bridi} you tried to write. ...confused yet? :) > What's the origin of the two forms of quite a few {bridi}? Assuming you mean {brivla} again... what two forms do you mean? For one of them, do you mean things such as {bri} from {bridi}? Those are {rafsi}, used when several brivla are compounded into a {lujvo}. A bit like forming "geology" from "geo-" + "-logy" in English. > I'm working through the (excellent) lessons you've written, but I would > have expect the Lojban for "Hi!" and "Thank you" to have come up much > earlier! They're {coi} and {ki'e}, respectively, in case you hadn't come across them yet. You can add a name to either, as {coi .adam.} or {ki'e .camgusmis.}. mu'o mi'e .filip. -- Philip Newton
