I speak several languages, but English is - and always has been - my first. Also, I have several degrees, so I believe my IQ is not the problem. More to the point, I have a long career in communications, mainly in the IT sector. I have frequently had to deal with software programmers who are unintelligable to mere mortals but genuinely believe that only dummies can't understand what they are talking about. Lawyers and other professionals such as medics also have this problem - some even make money on it. I would just like to sensitize lojbanists to the fact that lojban can be a challenge to newbies, and that unless their communications to newbies are really understandable (by the standard of newbies), the lojban community will forever remain a narrow circle of academic (and post-academic) enthusiasts. Having said that, I know that many lojbanists understand this and that everyone here is doing his best - for that I am grateful. - Andrew ----- Original Message ---- From: "MorphemeAddict@wmconnect.com" To: lojban-beginners@lojban.org Sent: Thursday, April 12, 2007 8:42:43 AM Subject: [lojban-beginners] English-language responses In a message dated 4/12/2007 4:23:23 AM Central Daylight Time, ecartis@digitalkingdom.org writes: Please note, I am not a linguist, software programmer or mathermatician, so some of the past English-langauge responses in this mail-list are difficult to follow (technical jargon etc). Stevo,

English is fine.
