Read the CLL and the BPFK sections, try some translations (first back from lojban, then into lojban), read Alice or The Little Prince (I'll get around to them eventually). There's nothing stopping you from trying to make new words; in doing so, you'll learn to understand the process better, and we'll be able to correct you.
