=A0 Ahh, no. =A0I am not. =A0I'm a computer programmer. = =A0 I'm familiar with taxa as much as the next guy. =A0But because as m= y role in the language department of the cantr roleplaying game (cantr.org) I had to translate many animal names, I h= ad to create many of them myself (especially those that Pierre's wide n= et hadn't caught), especially those that had to be distinguished from o= ther, similar ones in cantr. =A0Depending on the case, I based my translati= ons on either the Linnean name, used a tanru (which you won't see in jb= ovlaste), used fu'ivla from other languages (rarely a choice for me, un= less the name seemed to be either pretty widespread or the animal was confi= ned to a locally small area so the native name could be used (and the latte= r usual implies the former as well) (these would be what used to be called = in Loglan I-prims and N-prims)), or a combination if a whole larger groupin= g (taxon, clade, or informal) was implied, and I needed specificity), or lu= jvo, in which I had to ask myself "is there a characteristic of this a= nimal that is a hallmark/uniquish to this creature that would serve to iden= tify it, as opposed to another, =A0to someone who is =A0familiar with the a= nimal, without too much difficulty?" To answer =A0this question, I rea= d up on the animals, and also sometimes took inspiration from the meaning o= f their binomials.
