I take "farna" to be about orientation, not about location. There is
"ragve" for the relative locations of three objects in line.

"The apple is to my north" is just "lo plise cu berti mi", but if "le
berti" is "The North", and you want to say that the apple is between
you and that thing you describe as "The North", you can say "le berti
cu ragve lo plise mi". No need for "farna" to duplicate that.

That's what I take it to mean, yes, but apples don't really have any
intrinsic orientation, so you would need to specify that in x3. If it
was a compass needle instead of an apple it would make more sense.
