However, {la} usually... disappears when you translate jbo->en: {la. djan. klama lo zarci} -> "John goes to the store." {la} is required to signal the following construct, be it a selbri or a cmevla-string, as a name, rather than a real description, as is the case with {lo}: {mi dunda lo plise la plise} -> "I give an apple to Apple." Alternatively, you could paint a regular bridi on the boat, and then refer to the boat using an appropriate la-description.
