From my quick glance through the corpus, in fact, carna is used to mean that as much as 2 out of 3 times. Since any change to the language needs to have minimum (and preferably no) impact on past usage, if it is found that the "turn" usage is the prevalent one, then our course of action is, obviously, to redefine carna as "turn" and to create at least one word for the type of rotational motion that cares about axes and direction. And since the current definition of carna isn't exactly clear, as evidenced by Lindar's comments and your need for an extremely technical description, then the new word(s) should not have that definition, but instead one that is readily understandable.
