Today, I had the idea to take a short text and have everyb= ody translate it to Lojban. The motivations are:
1. To see and compare = the different styles of Lojbanic writing
2. To give people a short text to practice their Lojban
3. To learn and have fun

I picked the following short story, and so far, two people have alr= eady made a translation of it and a few more said there were going to try a= s well. I think that if the first round of this is fun enough then we could= do another one=A0 with a different story. Maybe this could become a monthl= y or biweekly thing. I hope some of you like this idea and decide to try a = translation yourself. You can send the translations to me in private or jus= t in this thread, I compile them and add them to the collection of all the = other translations on a tiki page.

The Princess and the Pea (by Hans Christian= Anderssen)

Once upon a time there was a prince who wanted to marry = a princess; but she would have to be a real princess. He travelled all over= the world to find one, but nowhere could he get what he wanted. There were= princesses enough, but it was difficult to find out whether they were real= ones. There was always something about them that was not as it should be. = So he came home again and was sad, for he would have liked very much to hav= e a real princess.

=A0=A0=A0=A0 One evening a terrible storm came on; there was thunder an= d lightning, and the rain poured down in torrents. Suddenly a knocking was = heard at the city gate, and the old king went to open it.

The water ran= down from her hair and clothes; it ran down into the toes of her shoes and= out again at the heels. And yet she said that she was a real princess.
