In my opinion, attitudinals express the speaker's feelings or opinions=20
on a matter, but they need not be directed at the speaker. In "You=20
should eat" it is the speaker who thinks that the other person should=20
eat, but it's still about the general situation, not about themselves,=20
if that makes sense. It's the speaker's opinion about a situation,=20
whether or not that situation involves them.
