If there's only one referent, both "lo" and "le" are correct, and I pre= fer=20
"lo". For example, unless the universe of discourse includes inhabited = planets=20
orbiting other stars, there's only one solri, and I'd say "lo solri".

The habit of using "a" the first time something is mentioned and "the"= =20
thereafter is to be avoided in Lojban. The way to indicate this in Lojb= an (if=20
it's necessary to indicate) is "bi'u", e.g.:
ni'o le bi'u cmalu bloti
ze'epu naku xe klama
...
.i lo cmalu finpe kilto cu
plipe le bloti le xamsi

Then what would be the difference from= {lo bi'unai bloti}?

And earlier you said "{le} is= what you say when you have a particular thing in mind". Isn't everything w= e talk about we have somehow in mind?

Sorry, I'm n= ot joking. This is really a question from the russian jbo-community. I need= to explain it somehow.

When talking about a species, meaning all or typical members of the spe= cies,=20
use "lo":
lo guakmaio be la blanu joi pelxu cu xabju lo ketco solni'atutra
The blue-and-gold macaw lives in tropical South America.
It is also correct to use "lo'e".

And again I can't see why can't we use= {le} or {le'e}. You are talking about macaw living in America so you have = them in mind although you might no necessarily saw them.
