I think  we use etymology only to accelerate memorisability of gism= u. Therefore why mutilating words?

It is phonologically analysed as /'zaltsig/, but i= t is phonetically [=CB=88= zalts=C9=AA= =C3=A7] (or = [=CB=88zalts=C9=AAk]), so, yes, {zaltsix} (if n= ot {zalts}).
 

Anyway i hope the issue with the concept of "salty" is closed.=
