Once in 3D form, legibility (at least from a human perspective) decreases.. or becomes "harder". Often reaching the point where information is "lost" in a 2D picture. Taken to the extreme, the outer wire could even completely block the visibility of some/all the inner wire from all directions It could be considered a form of "3d physical visual encryption"(perhaps "envelope" or "lock" is better than "encryption" in this case) It would have to be unfolded, ensuring that all trit forms are preserved, before you could access the inner text or... an "encryption" system could be used so that there are rules, where some of the trits are changed as the structure is unfolded the rules could be simple, or "cumulative" so that as you "read your way in", the morphing rules change depending on the text already read. Or there could be characters specially for defining morph rules anyways, the design is geared toward a a simple and easy to accomplish method that can be used on wire wire being the key word..
