I don't know how to break it to you, but valsi pumping is a remarkably labo=
r intensive process that has virtually no direct relation to language profi=
ciency. =C2=A0Some master memorizers can barely stumble through a simple se=
ntence; some people who can read Lojban at something like first (or at leas=
t very familiar second) language level cannot pass any of the flash card te=
st at all. =C2=A0I don't know what your correlation is, but I hope it is hi=
gh enough that you can justify the time you have spent. =C2=A0Theory, at le=
ast, suggest that that time would have been better spent (assuming that eas=
y real-time functioning in Lojban is your goal) in reading Lojban text -- w=
ith a dictionary at hand (well, on the screen) at first but less and less s=
o as you went along (but always there, since you will run into the rare wor=
d or place occasionally, just like L1). Keep up the good work, however you =
pursue it.=C2=A0

It was roughly 1 year ago when I have discovered Lojban and started to
learn it.

Some people may remember that I have started a poll a while ago about
learning the words of Lojban.

Since then, my percentage improved.

So here are some statistics for you to munch:

BAI and BAI*: 370/382 cards (97%)
COI and COI*: 54/54 (100%)
KOhA: 45/45 (100%)
PA: 89/91 (97%)
UI1 and UI*1: 181/190 (95%)

tense cmavo: 174/178 (98%)
mekso cmavo*****: 58/66 (88%)
other cmavo**: 198/203 (98%)
all cmavo: 1382/1427 (97%)

I use Anki. Anki reports that I have learned in 223 out of 407 days.


I am quite sad that, after a year of learning, I still have not reached
the 100% mark. I am quite pissed off by the fact that there is a small
percentage left for me, yet I can=E2=80=99t seem to climb it for a while no=
w.

I therefore concluded that from now on, I try to learn harder.
I noticed that with Anki I learned less and less cards each day until
Anki said that I have =E2=80=9Cfinished=E2=80=9D. I try a different approac=
h now: The
next 7 days, I try to learn at least 2 hours a day, regardless of how
many cards I munch in this time. After the 7 days have passed, I=E2=80=99ll
report back here with new statistics for you to munch.

Have others here also trouble learning the last bits of the basic
vocabulary? Are you stuck around 95% for a longer time, too? Have you
already surpassed it?
