A priori can be difficult though. Yet it's not too hard to do some word 
derivations using transformation rules, e.g. deriving `library` from the 
word for `book`.

Personally, I would have just borrowed words whole-clothe from different 
languages without trying to mix them. I also would not have given Chinese 
the full weight of its population in selecting words simply b/c it is a 
rather geographically locked language and also b/c it is tonal.
