I'm not telling the listener to make drinking milk make you strong--"because it makes you strong" is largely a separate statement, only providing context to why I'm telling you to do something. In Lojban I can say {ko pinxe loi ladru} "drink some milk" and {do pinxe loi ladru na.a do tsali} "you drinking milk implies that you are strong", but I don't know how to combine them in a suitable manner. By the way, let me know if there is a more appropriate way to say the second one. I originally thought something with ri'a would do, but something seems off about using ri'a to talk about a hypothetical situation. Anyway, how can I give a command and explain why I gave it, without making the explanation part of the statement I want the listener to do. I don't want to tell someone "stop making faces or your face will stick that way" and make it seem like "making your face stick that way" is an avenue of fulfilling my command. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "lojban" group.
