Well, maybe let inhabitants of those countries decide? :)

Say, Poland. It's Polska over here, but that fails right away because {lo p=
olska} means something like "colours of Polynesia". It's pretty, but it mis=
ses the mark by half the globe. If we insist on the -o ending, I personally=
 settled for {polco}. Somewhat awkward, Russian-sounding, but workable.

BTW: An "alternative" name for Poland is Lechistan. But that falls apart as=
 {le xista[n]}. So who knows, maybe the gismu for Poland should be {xista} =
with {le} as the mandatory gadri ;)

(Yes, I know that in some cases there would not be consensus among said inh=
abitants. There's a joke that where there are two Poles there are three opi=
nions, so I guess my example is the worst of all...)
