this is just a notification that the latest reworkings of = the front page of LMW (mw.lojban.org) made it ugly loo= king from mobile devices.

The site seems to have a "responsive layout" so just resizing the br= owser window smaller on desktop shows the problem. I also found a bug: resi= ze the browser window to mobile size, show and hide the menu, expand browse= r window back to desktop size and now the sidebar menu doesn't show.

Did the MobileFrontend interface show up during your tests like in the scre= enshot above?

Sorry, on desktop the top bar doesn't look quite like http://imgur.com/aJqUirM but the layout does look similarly cramped/bro= ken at very small window sizes.

MobileFrontend tries to detect tru= e mobile devices to disable this Metrolook skin and to enable its own skin.=  http://imgur.com/aJqUirM is done= from a real phone (i.e. not browser console emulation)

The current situation is even w= orse: http://imgur.com/gGP8Y0D

I suggest that for devices with such narrow screens the r= ight block is put to the top (so that language changing block can be seen) = with news hidden.

Or if you need news even on mobi= le devices then the whole right block can be split into two blocks moving l= anguages to the top (so that new visitors can immediately change to their l= anguage) and news to the bottom so they dont distract new visitors with lot= s of guest-unfriendly unfamiliar information.
=
Another solution can be just placing the language block back= to top as it was done by me long before LMW became official. It'd take two= lines of text. Not too much IMO (the left sidebar and the top toolbar aren= 't scrollable so scrolling the content of the page doesn't make you lose ma= in wiki controls).
The new block thus would become independent an= d can be assigned a separate CSS/JS for narrow devices.

I can also note that the front page is= not optimized even for desktop computers. Here are two screenshots made fo= r screens with different width.

This glitch happens due to:
1. Using thr= ee tables instead of automatically fitting names of languages into columns<= /div>
2. Since the right sidebar is specified using percents while the = tables with names of languages are specified using pixels.
These = incompatible dimensions will always lead to glitches on different devices. = And this should always be avoided.
