It's difficult for me to debug based on that level of detail.  If
you could come into IRC and name me (rlpowell) whenever you find it
down, that would be super helpful.  Gleki and I have been working on
it, though, and it should be pretty reliable these days; the long
outage the other day was different.

There is no obvious way that money would help; the primary problem,
in as much as I'm aware of what the problem is, is the daily
backups, which is a bit tricky.

OTOH, I'm going to see about speeding up the disks, and that might
help
