It is not clear what "modern Lojban" is, but it is clear what it is not=20
(for example, it is *not* the Lojban described in the CLL).

As for what it *is*, there is no clear definition and there probably=20
can't be until all the different ways people speak form a coherent=20
dialect that people more or less agree on (which might never happen).

CLL vs "modern Lojban" is a false dichotomy. There are several clearly=20
distinguishable modern (i.e., not 20 years old) "dialects", some of them=20
are documented, in part or in full, and many are not. What is clear,=20
however, is that people don't want to use CLL Lojban (despite the fact=20
that it is still the most thoroughly documented version). If you learn a=20
bit more about Lojban and get familiar with its details, you will most=20
likely begin to understand why. The different dialects are just an=20
expression of that desire, and a manifestation of the differences in how=20
different people think a better version should look like.
