I doubt if anyone got paid to make the logo....the standard open- source answer to your concern is "make a logo/webpage yourself and submit it to the list and we'll see if other people like it too." That seems like a reasonable and productive use of your energies, much more valuable than this sort of flame on the volunteers who created the present logo. My first guess (I honestly have no idea what it means) it that it's symbolic of a Venn diagram and maybe Cartesian coordinates.
