The connection between the incidents is that Lojbanists usually insufficiently appreciate the distinction between the {cenba}/{binxo}/{galfi}/{stika} family until the distinction is pointed out, so it must be pointed out frequently. {ti cenba} "this varies" {ti binxo ta} "this becomes that" {da stika ti} "something makes an adjustment to this" {da galfi ti ta} "something transforms this into that" Another part of the explanation is that very few expert Lojbanists are willing to give the background info that we could find in a textbook, or specify the English translation of a word when they suggest it, if we could find it in a word list. They usually expect others to figure it out for themselves. I don't like doing it that way because I enjoy teaching and I feel that I have the time to be a textbook and word list for others. -Eppcott To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to lojban-list-request@lojban.org with the subject unsubscribe, or go to http://www.lojban.org/lsg2/, or if you're really stuck, send mail to secretary@lojban.org for help.
